Due to improved screening and early diagnostics we are able to diagnose many gynecologic conditions in pre-cancerous stages, i.e. before they get a chance to transform into a cancer. For obvious reasons, this is highly advantageous because a less invasive procedure can be performed early in the course of the disease, which will not only prevent cancer, but will also result in improved patient outcomes.
Some of the precancerous conditions treated surgically by Dr. Gorelick are:
- high grade cervical dysplasia (precursor to cervical cancer)
- endometrial hyperplasia (precursor to endometrial cancer)
- high grade vulvo-vaginal dysplasia (precursor to vulvar and vaginal cancer)
